Sometimes overlooked as a form of exercise, walking can help you build stamina, burn excess calories and make your heart healthier. You do not have to walk for hours, a brisk 10-minute daily walk has lots of health benefits and counts towards your recommended 150 minutes of weekly exercise.

The Active Blaby team co-ordinate and sometimes lead a series of walks designed to get people moving. These Health Walks are quite short in length, relatively easy in pace and are delivered in a way to get you moving as a first step to building activity into your day. They are also a great chance to socialise with other like minded people and have some fun too!!

Led by a trained individual, they’ll take you to the more picturesque places in the area and make sure you have a pleasant experience. Dogs are welcome but must be well behaved and kept on a lead.

Please scroll to the bottom of the page to sign up or alternatively click the self-referral tab at the top.

Quotes from walkers on our programme:

“Having taken early retirement in May 2021, the walks have provided me with the opportunity to keep my weight under control whilst meeting up and chatting with people who you do get know.  Particularly with being single, they also help to fill a void from a spare time perspective.”

“I find when walking with company I not only enjoy the social aspect, but will also walk further than I ever do when walking on my own.  Doing the walks has also encouraged me to seek time to do similar activity within my circle of friends. I have also loved having the opportunity to experience a variety of different routes that i didn’t know about before joining!”
