Sushila has been a part of our Community Health walks and groups for a number of years.
Since joining the walking groups, she has gained a lot of confidence, challenged herself and thoroughly enjoyed taking part in various local activities including rounders and softball cricket.
Following on from her regular attendance at both our Brock’s Hill and Ladies only walk, Sushila completed her Walk Leader training to enable her to lead walking groups across the local area.
Sushila recently took on the Himalayan Mountains, hear about her trip below.
“I had a great journey to the foothills of the Himalayan mountains in July. The journey started from Delhi to Kathmandu where our main base was. We has the chance for lots of sightseeing there and completed our visa applications for Tibet/China.
We then travelled to Pokhara, visited the temples in Gorkha district of Nepal- the kamana is 1302m above sea level.
Next visit was Jomson also known as new Fort at an altitude of 2700m with had fascinating rivers and mountains. Continuing on to Kerung, Saga (4600m) arriving at Lake Manasarovar the highest lake of freshwater. Lots of rocky peaks and beautiful surroundings.
We then arrived in Tarchen (14975ft) base camp. At Yama Duwar we started our trek. The lack of oxygen in the air makes it slightly difficult, but the 1st sight of mount Kailash is truly breath-taking”.
